“Then the angel said to them, Do not be afraid, for behold,
I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. For there is
born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.”
(Luke 2: 10-11)
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten
Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”
(John 3:16)
This is the season to celebrate the greatest gift ever given
to mankind. The God who made all things left glory and came to be born to a
poor Jewish girl. His stepfather was a carpenter who had to travel a great
distance on foot with a pregnant wife because of a government decree. They came
to their destination and found there was no vacancy. Out of kindness, a person
allowed them to use a smelly stable. When God was born he was placed in a
feeding trough.
The first people to come to the stable were shepherds. In
that time, they were considered the lower element of society. They smelled and
were considered no better than thieves. And yet, these were the men summoned by
the angels.
To think, God Almighty came in such a way to save our lives
from sin and death. What a great gift we have received.
